TESTIMONIALS

 To Cleveland Clinic Patient Relations:

Our daughter was recently a heart patient at Cleveland Clinic. Following open-heart surgery,

she was a recovery and rehab patient at both the Clinic and at Kindred Hospital. My wife and

I live in both Cincinnati and Fort Myers, FL. In total, we resided in Cleveland for nearly two

I’m writing to share our experience with rental housing there. During our stay, we rented two

different units from Mr. Brooks Jones. We found him listed in a handout on hotels and rentals

provided by the Clinic. Both units were clean, quiet, well maintained, and reasonably priced.

Brooks caters primarily to families of patients hospitalized in Cleveland. He has a number of

fully furnished rental properties. The two units we used had two bedroom, off-street

parking, and washers/dryers either in the rental units, or on the premises. The units were

conveniently located near both the Clinic and Kindred Hospital, in safe neighborhoods, and

close to restaurants and shopping. His units made our stay there much more comfortable,

and affordable than living in hotel rooms and paying for parking. Brooks made every effort to

make sure that our stay in his units were totally satisfactory. We highly recommend both

Brooks and his rental units to families needing temporary housing near the Clinic.

Sincerely,

Jan & Gary

Dear Cleveland Clinic Patient Concierge,

I am writing to you to share my experience with Brooks Jones, and the apartment that I rented for my sister who recently went through 6 grueling weeks of Chemo and radiation treatments at the Clinic.  Even though my sister lives about an hour and fifteen minutes away, I knew her and her  husband would not be able to make that trip 2x a day, so I got busy and found Mr. Jones through the site AirBnb, turns out he was also on the Clinic sheet of places but I did not notice that at the time ( I would place him first on the list!).

I was immediately drawn to his apartments, not only were they located within minutes of the clinic and cheerily decorated, but I could tell that he actually cared about his properties and cared for the people who rented from him--offering transportation, meal preps, laundry--anything to make your stay more comfortable. I read nothing but glowing reviews.   I contacted Mr. Jones to see if he would let me be my sister's go between, they are not the most technologically inclined and they also had a lot on their mind.  He readily agreed.

I live in Pittsburgh, so I communicated with him via email and he promptly answered all of my questions and I instantly liked doing business with him.  Mr. Jones is not only thorough, but compassionate, and that meant a lot to me.  Anytime my sister had any questions or needed something, Mr. Jones was on it.  One of the doors was sticking, straight away he had someone there to fix it, my bother-in-law wanted to borrow a hammer for something, Mr. Jones brought one right over.  I felt relieved to know that my sister was able to rent from Mr. Jones, many times she commented on how nice he was and how quick he was to answer any questions that they had.  I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Jones and talking to him several times, this isn't just a business to him, it's obvious its also a mission.  I cannot speak highly enough of Mr. Jones and I do not hesitate to recommend any of his places.  There are so few places that rent for an extended short stay, that one could easily take advantage of the market, this isn't the case with Mr. Jones.    It was so much nicer for my sister to rent from Mr. Jones as opposed to a small depressing hotel room. She needed any positive thing she could get.  I really do believe it made a huge difference for her.  Should anyone like to speak to me directly about our experience, please contact me anytime!  The Clinic is very fortunate to have someone like Mr. Jones as a resource for their patients, it certainly was a blessing to us!

Warmly,

Julie

To whom it may concern,
My husband just had a liver transplant and I was looking for a place to stay.  The Transplant house was full. I wanted a place with a kitchen for at least 7-10 days that was close to Cleveland Clinic. Brooks had a first floor apt. 8 min away from the clinic. It was  furnished with full kitchen. I was able to cook meals and even clean up(dish soap/towels provided) the apartment was clean and comfy. They thought of everything.  The 2 bedrooms had full/queen beds, plus a twin bed in the front room. And the bathroom had towels and soap (if you forgot yours) It took the stress away from me having this place. There was a coin laundry in the basement which was so nice and convenient. I felt safe here, being in a big city..the doors are heavy with deadbolts and neighbors above and beside me, plus a parking space in the back was convenient and private. I never had to find parking on the street. If I had any issues Brooks was always available! It was in a nice neighborhood too,  I could fit a quick walk around the block!  If needed, I would stay at their rentals again.
Thanks!

I just had to express my gratitude to Brooks and his wife… not only was the apartment exceptionally clean and comfortable, but so affordable!! What a comfort when going through such a difficult time. Not only did Brooks and his wife take time out from her birthday celebration with their family to make sure my daughter and I were comfortable and taken care of, but also offered to take us to the Clinic at the drop of a hat!! God bless you both!!! Truly a blessing to my daughter and myself.. will be calling again if the need arises!! Thank you so much!!!- Tracey S

My Husband received a liver transplant at Cleveland CLinic in May 2025. We are from Buffalo, and I had reached out to The Transplant House of Cleveland to get on the list to stay during his recovery. Due to the high number of transplants being done in the area, The Transplant House didn’t have an opening by the time my husband was discharged from the hospital. Being from out-of-town, his transplant team wanted us to stay in Cleveland for another two weeks to monitor his progress. The Transplant House provided a list of alternative housing options. Brooks and one of his apartments was one of those options, and fortunately he had an opening for us. Brooks and his family warmly welcomed us and provided wonderful hospitality during our whole stay. The apartment was so homelike and it met all of our needs. When my husband needed a more comfortable chair to sit in and rest, Brooks quickly found one for us. The apartment was relaxing, quiet, yet provided many food and grocery options in walking distance. Brooks was quick to answer any questions we had and went above and beyond to meet our needs. We’re fortunate to have found thi option and would return again!!- Abbey R

As a long term transplant patient at the Cleveland Clinic, I have struggled for years to find consistent lodging when we travel for treatments. This has been by far the best solution for our needs as a family. This has truly allowed us to feel like Cleveland is our home away from home during the transplant and follow up care. We look forward every time to “coming home.”-Cleveland Clinic liver transplant and CAR-T patient

Dear Friends,

On May 16th, my husband was given a cancer diagnosis that turned our world upside down. I was addressing invitations to our oldest son’s high school graduation party when the doctor returned my husband from his colonoscopy and informed us, he had found a cancerous tumor. In one instant, I went from envisioning a future we had planned together for decades, to an immediate reality of not knowing what the next five minutes held for us.

There is nothing that can prepare you for the overwhelming change that happens to your family with the simple phrase, “you have cancer”. Like the disease itself, a cancer diagnosis eats its way, completely untamed, into every aspect of your life and every fiber of your being. As you feel your life spiraling away beneath you, the only thing you can do is cast a lifeline and assemble the best team possible to take into battle. For my husband, those warriors came from the Cleveland Clinic.

The first phase of my husband's treatment required 5 weeks of chemo and radiation. These treatments were administered Monday through Friday with weekends off. Since we live more than four hours away, this was going to require him to live in Cleveland during the week with weekends spent at home. The good news was that he could begin treatment in less than two weeks. The difficult new was that we would need to relocate him to Cleveland in less than two weeks. Not only was this going to be a difficult transition for our three children and my husband’s employees, but it was also going to be a financial burden for us to solve quickly.

The Cleveland Clinic has done a marvelous job of developing partnerships with area hotels to provide deeply discounted rates for their patients. In fact, we took advantage of one of those rates for his first week in treatment. However, when facing a long-term stay, living in a hotel is not as restful or cost effective as being at home.

Through the concierge service at Cleveland Clinic, we were connected with Brooks and Mika Jones. As soon as I made a call to them, they jumped into action and were able to offer us two different apartments to accommodate my husband. Both locations had two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, private bathroom, living room, dining room and outdoor patio space. The furnishings were very comfortable, and the units were very clean. Moving my husband out of a hotel was a huge relief for us. He was able to bring meals from home that had been prepared by our family, he was able to spend time outdoors, he was able to continue working remotely and with the extra space, we were able to visit him regularly. Being in a home environment was very restful and comforting. Both apartments were located less than ten minutes from the Taussig Cancer Center and had easy access to groceries and other necessities. Both units were in very walkable neighborhoods, giving him plenty of opportunity to get much needed daily exercise. The best part was that the daily rental rate worked out to be just slightly less than what we were paying for a hotel.

At the beginning of our cancer journey, we knew we needed to find great doctors and healthcare professionals. What we didn’t realize we needed was a safety net team to help us survive treatment. We feel very fortunate to have connected with Brooks and Mika and had them as part of our team. I would recommend anyone seeking care at the Cleveland Clinic connect with them!

Sincerely, Lori S

Dear Prospective Grandview Place Visitors, I am happy to add a testimonial letter as a recommendation for staying at the short-term apartment rental in Cleveland Heights. My husband and I stayed in a two-bedroom first floor apartment for a month.

The location here is great. It is on a residential street within walking distance of shops, cafes and restaurants and the really fine Cedar Lee Theater, which features independent and first-run films. There is parking if you have a car, and easy public transportation. We used Uber several times as well. As we were there for surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, the proximity to the large hospital complex was important. The drive there is around 10 minutes. The CVS is a couple blocks away was very convenient.

The apartment is frequently described as “cozy”, and it really is. The furniture and appointments are very comfortable. There are pleasing art prints on the walls that provide a homey touch. The kitchen is very well equipped, and I was happy that it was so easy to prepare many of our own meals. I liked the bathroom and appreciated that we were in an older place with character. Above all, the apartment was super clean when we arrived, and was maintained throughout our stay.

Brooks Jones, the owner, was helpful, responsive, and demonstrated that he likes his work and really cares for his properties and his guests.

While weathering a rather difficult medical situation, we were happy that this part of the total experience was pleasant and made the Cleveland visit as nice as it could be.

Sincerely, Mary L.

Brooks. We are very pleased to write a letter of recommendation for your rental services ans apartments. We have been most pleased. All our requests have been met in fantastic time. When we asked you for a hand rail in the tub area you were very quick to install that. I want to thank you for the recent table and lamp you brought for my daughter’s bed side. I am so appreciative to your kind attention to our requests. You have never made us feel we are asking too much. You respond asap, with a smile, and your words, “Let me know if there is anything else you need.”

We are impressed with the cleanliness and how well the apartments are furnished and decorated. I love the open kitchen design. The appliances are very clean and work great. Not so at the hotel we stayed at; there, we had to clean all of the appliances ourselves as well as the laundry area before use.

We spend many long days at Cleveland Clinic. Our daughter had a double lung transplant a few weeks ago. It is so nice to come home to a nice apartment where we can relax and unwind from the day’s events. The other renters are most quiet and extremely caring and nice. One gentleman even offered to drive us to appointments.

Budget wise this is certainly cheaper than being in a hotel and much more like home. It is important for our daughter to feel comfortable when she is recuperating and I think this will be a fine place for her to continue her recovery.

On another note, I want to add how wonderful it has been working with you. I am blessed to have met such a nice person when we didn’t know where to turn for housing. Thank you again for all you have done to help us.

Sincerely, Chris & Rick O.

My wife and I moved into a Brooks Jones apartment at 2299 Grandview Ave. the day that I was released from the Cleveland Clinic after a lung transplant. The apartment was clean, neat and well furnished; plus, it had a lovely front porch for sitting, reading and enjoying the daily life in the neighborhood. The apartment is only one block from one of the most beautiful areas in Cleveland - perfect for the daily walks that are a necessary part of my recuperation. Additionally, it is only 10 minutes from the Cleveland Clinic, which makes it ideal!

The Jones family went over and above the norm to make us as comfortable as possible, trying to make us feel at home immediately. Brooks showed a lot of concern for my condition, and was always ready to help. For example, because of my medications I was always cold; so he brought me a space heater. I needed scales for my daily weight record; he showed up with a scale. These are only a couple of examples of how tenants are treated when staying at one of his properties. It is a comfort to know that someone is there to help at any time if it is needed.

I do not hesitate to recommend Brooks’s houses or apartments to anyone, especially recovering patients with major surgery. He understands that a home-like environment aides recovery; and he is familiar with patient-needs from his experience with me and people like me.

We recently stayed at the Grandview apartments. I was waiting for the call for the transplant for a couple months and Brooks accommodated us by saving the apartment for us so we didn’t have to worry about where we were going to stay. These people are wonderful and truly do care about the well being of everyone. The apartment was very clean and accommodating in every way. Also very close to the clinic/hospital. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. I am doing very well and headed to Cleveland for my 6 month appointment. Please call these people if you are looking for a very nice place to stay! The people are amazingly wonderful.

To Whom It May Concern, I have had the pleasure of renting a property from Brooks Jones, Grandview Place. My husband was scheduled for a complex surgery that would have had him hospitalized for over 3 months at Cleveland Clinic. As you can imagine, we were beside ourselves with trying to make accomodations, as the cost of a hotel would have been staggering. A real estate agent was recommended to us with properties in the area, but they were large apartments buildings with inadequate parking and very cold in their appearance.

My daughter checked with Craig’s List, a source I would have never looked into, and we found Brooks Jones. His properties are beautiful, clean, close to the hospital and feel like home, which is very important for my husband’s recuperation process. Brooks has been nothing short of gracious, welcoming, and accommodating to us. Hi properties are well furnished, clean and very well maintained. I could not image what the past three months would have been like at any other location.

My husband needs additional surgery next year and we would hope to obtain one of Brooks’s properties again. I would recommend his properties to anyone who is looking for a “home”, whether it be a family or professional, they are all perfect.

Thank you, Rosalie D

To whom it may concern,

It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Mr. Brooks Jones, Owner of Grandview Place rentals. I originally learned of Mr. Brooks through a friend and later read reviews of him and his properties on a rental website.

I was a tenant in a property located on Grandview Ave. from January 8,2017 to February 8, 2017, while me and my daughter, Phoebe, was a patient at the Cleveland Clinic Children's Rehabilitation Hospital Shaker Campus located on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The location was ideal as it was a short drive to the hospital. I am not a big city person, so I especially liked the fact that I was close to downtown and various recreational activities, but I didn't have to drive or be downtown unless I wanted to be there.

The difficulty of relocating to a new place, if even for a short time, was somewhat overwhelming for this single mother of three. However, I knew it was necessary to ensure my daughter received the treatment that she needed. Mr. Brooks was very patient and understanding regarding my circumstances.

He made himself available to me for every call and question. He even made himself available, on very short notice, to show me properties within my budget that would accommodate my needs while I was in town.

Mr. Jones was very welcoming upon our arrival to the property and assisted us with moving our things in the apartment. He provided us with clear directions to local stores, eateries, etc. and made sure that we were familiarized and comfortable in our new neighborhood. The apartment was within walking distance of a grocery store, specialty shops, Starbucks, and several eateries. He did not hesitate to check on me and address any questions or concerns I had regarding the property. Any maintenance concerns were addressed promptly. He was aware that I was not accustomed to the weather in Cleveland and even offered to ensure that I made it to the hospital, if I was uncomfortable to drive in the weather. In addition, he and his team made sure my car was cleaned off each morning and the driveway was clear and salted.

Mr. Jones is very personable. He made the entire experience seem to go so smoothly from beginning to end. I am pleased to call Mr. Jones a friend. My family and I look forward to returning to Cleveland later this year, seeing our friend Brooks, staying in our "Cleveland home" and taking in some of the attractions. I would not hesitate in recommending his properties for families of those staying at Cleveland Clinic or the Cleveland Clinic Children's Rehabilitation Hospital. If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at the information provided. I will be happy to talk about my experience and answer any questions.

Sincerely, Janie P
